Hospitality Expert and Alumna Cutter Named to The Ferris Foundation Board of Directors

PhotoJenifer Cutter, a 2000 graduate of Ferris State University’s College of Business, has joined the Board of Directors for The Ferris Foundation. The Ferris Board of Trustees approved her nomination on Friday, Dec. 17.

Jenifer Cutter, a career professional in the West Michigan hospitality industry, brings vast experience to The Ferris Foundation Board of Directors. A 2000 graduate of Ferris State University’s College of Business, Cutter was approved as a director by the Ferris Board of Trustees at its Friday, Dec. 17 meeting.

Cutter said her nomination to The Ferris Foundation Board of Directors was an honor based on a recommendation by Sport, Entertainment and Hospitality Management Associate Professor Amy Dorey, the program director for Hospitality Management.

“The other directors I have met with, as I prepare for this opportunity, have given me real excitement about the work to support Ferris that we have before us,” Cutter said. “I am so excited about our charge to be part of making a difference for students, as this diverse team of professionals work to wisely support the advance of education, as it evolves.”

Cutter, one of seven new directors for The Ferris Foundation, is regional general manager for AHC Hospitality. The company oversees the Amway Grand Plaza Curio Collection by Hilton, the AC Hotel by Marriott in Grand Rapids, the nearby JW Marriott, and six other properties.

“Beyond an internship at True North in Scottsdale, Arizona, for Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, a Toronto-based hospitality group, I have advanced in guest services throughout my career, as part of this West Michigan management company,” Cutter said. “Going from the front desk of the Amway Grand to my current leadership role with AHC Hospitality has been an exciting and rewarding experience.”

As a member of the advisory board for the Hospitality Management program, Cutter has long been an active supporter of the university.

“I am proud of the externship in housekeeping that I worked to develop, along with emeriti Professor Lianne Briggs,” Cutter said. “We really work to break down misconceptions about this role in the hospitality process by having students join us for their spring break. We very much look forward to making this externship available to Sport, Entertainment and Hospitality Management students.”

Six Ferris alumni and Vice President of Diversity, Inclusion and Strategic Initiatives David Pilgrim are among the new appointees to The Ferris Foundation Board of Directors.
