Ferris State University Ranks Well Among Most Influential Colleges in Michigan

PhotoAccording to a report released by an online-based organization that focuses on higher education, Ferris State University has ranked well among Michigan's most influential colleges and universities.

Two-plus weeks into a new academic year, Ferris State University learned it was ranked No. 14 among the most influential colleges in Michigan according to online-based Academic Influence. This website focuses on higher education topics.

The rankings use the InfluenceRanking engine, which takes a large variety of open-source web data filtered and analyzed through machine-learning technology, developed and funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. The databases contain billions of continuously updated data points which, the site claims, ensures stronger resistance to manipulative practices in rankings.

The top 10 colleges and universities in the state started with the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), at No. 1, followed by Wayne State University, Michigan State University, Western Michigan University and the University of Detroit Mercy, rounding out the top five. Ranked at six through 10 were Andrews University, Oakland University, Kalamazoo College, Central Michigan University and Albion College.

In Fall 2021, Ferris welcomed more than 10K students to its main campus in Big Rapids, which has more than 7,700 students, and campuses across the state. Ferris kicked off the new school year with Bulldog Beginnings, more than two weeks of activities to welcome new and returning students to campus.
