Summer Internships: Marcus Remtema

Ferris State University students gain valuable work experience through internships. Internships also can confirm or redirect career decision-making, provide marketability, develop people skills and enhance classroom learning. Many academic programs require one, but the experience is encouraged regardless to provide students with a better understanding of what will be expected of them in the workplace.

Many students are participating in myriad internships this summer. Meet:

Marcus RemtemaMarcus Remtema

He is: a sophomore from Rockford, Michigan, majoring in Marketing.

His internship: He’s interning as a social media specialist, at Ferris, in Auxiliary Enterprises. “This internship has allowed me to get real-world marketing, while I strengthen my connections within the university, and affords me the chance to communicate effectively while in the business world.”

Future plans: “I plan to graduate from the College of Business with my Bachelor of Science in Marketing in Spring 2024. My future plan is to live in Rockford and transition into taking over my brother’s lighting company after college and expanding the business.”

Advice to future Marketing Students: “You have two ears and one mouth, so listen more than you speak. Marketing is all about real-world experience, change, and the ability to adapt to new situations, so you can only do that by listening, learning, and putting yourself out there.”

Other Activities: “I am a defensive back on the Ferris football team. Although I am a transfer student, I’m so excited to start this new journey at Ferris. I also enjoy giving back to the community and helping the youth.”

Core Value Marcus Relates to: “The Ferris core value I relate to the most is excellence. I’m always striving for excellence in all that I do.”
