Collaborative Effort Made to Present Grad CareerFestival June 23-26

Career FestA variety of authors, career coaches and resource specialists will be offered to Ferris State University graduates, alumni and students in the seventh annual Grad CareerFestrival, coming June 23-26. The online career conference is being made available free of charge, thanks to the collaborative effort of Ferris' Alumni Association and the university's Center for Leadership, Activities and Career Services.

For thousands of Ferris State University’s May 2020 graduates and students, the job market turbulence brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic presents significant concerns about getting started in their chosen field or finding employment.

Ferris’ Alumni Association and its Center for Leadership, Activities and Career Services are collaborating to make the seventh annual Grad CareerFestival program available, free of charge, June 23-26. Director of Alumni Relations Brandi Behrenwald said that this online career conference is available to alumni and current students and has a specific track presented each day, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

“We are pleased to be working with CLACS, to support and encourage our new graduates, as they look to establish themselves professionally, or hope to improve on job search skills,” Behrenwald said. “The daily categories include career management, job skills, advice on what to expect after graduation and developing soft skills. More than 70 presenters contribute throughout this conference, in Facebook Live events, TED talks and webinars that can help participants land a job more quickly, or to develop a career plan.”

Career and Volunteer Center Coordinator Michele Albright, from the CLACS office, said that TalentMarks is the nationally-recognized firm providing access to leading authors, resource specialists and career coaches during the Grad CareerFestival.

“In this challenging economic time, we want to ensure that our Ferris family has a leg up when it comes to seeking and obtaining employment,”

Behrenwald said that graduates and other participants can choose those offerings that meet their particular needs and desires.

“We are pleased to make this available to our latest graduates because we are proud of their accomplishment,” Behrenwald said. “This is a first step toward showing our Bulldog family that they can receive what they need and deserve, as alumni of Ferris State University.”
