Ferris to Graduate More than 1,000 Students, 800 to be Featured During Fall 2020 Virtual Commencement

Ferris State University will recognize its fall Class of 2020 graduates on Saturday, Dec. 19. The university will award approximately 1,200 degrees to 1,000 students in pre-recorded virtual commencement ceremonies due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The ceremonies will feature the 800 fall graduates who elected to participate.

The morning commencement session, at 10 a.m., features graduates from the College of Business and the College of Health Professions. The 1:30 p.m. session highlights graduates from the College of Arts, Sciences Ferris State Universityand Education and the College of Engineering Technology. The Ferris State Video YouTube channel will broadcast the ceremonies, including pre-recorded messages and short videos designed to replicate a customary graduation procession, highlighting the participating students.

Kendall College of Art and Design faculty member Lori Faulkner, Ferris’ 2020 Distinguished Teacher Award recipient, is this fall’s featured commencement speaker. The ceremonies will further include remarks from President David Eisler and Board of Trustees Chair Amna Siebold.

Video links to follow the ceremonies from the Ferris State Video YouTube channel will be available the morning of Saturday, Dec. 19. Viewers, via YouTube, can interact using a live chat function during the ceremonies. Further, commencement conversations and information will be featured throughout social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, using the hashtags #DawgsOut20 and #FerrisGrad2020.
