Summer Internships: Hannah Mason

Ferris State University students gain valuable work experience through internships. Internships also can confirm or redirect career decision-making, provide marketability, develop people skills and enhance classroom learning. Many academic programs require one, but the experience is encouraged regardless to provide students with a better understanding of what will be expected of them in the workplace.

Many students are participating in myriad internships this summer. Meet:

Hannah MasonHannah Mason

She is: a senior from Grand Rapids, Michigan, studying Nursing with a minor in Psychology.

Her Internship: Is at Spectrum Butterworth Hospital on the GI-GU Medical Surgical Unit in Grand Rapids. “I’m currently in my third semester of the Nursing program, helping with patient care and impacting the surrounding community of Grand Rapids. I’m excited for my OB clinicals at the end of the semester, so I can guide where I want my future career to be.”

Future Plans: “I plan to graduate from Ferris State University in Spring 2021 with my BSN-RN degree. I hope to stay in Grand Rapids for a couple of years for some extra clinical experience to further my education for my master’s degree.”

Advice to Fellow Incoming Nursing Ferris Students: “Follow your passion and heart but still enjoy college while you’re there. Don’t stress over failure, but always strive for success and never give up.”

Hannah’s Previous Internship Experience: “I gained my Phlebotomy CAN from KCTC to prepare myself for college while I was in high school.”
Other Campus Activities: “I’m a member of Alpha Sigma Tau, a National Panhellenic Sorority.”

Ferris Core Value Hannah Relates to: Ethical Community. “I believe every patient should have access to care with the resources and compassion necessary to feel comfortable and safe.”
