Graduates planning to decorate their cap for Ferris State University’s Spring 2018
ceremonies are encouraged to participate in the second annual Commencement Cap Photo Challenge. The contest is again co-sponsored by the News Services and Social Media office and
the Alumni Relations office.
This contest is open to all graduating seniors participating in Spring 2018 commencement ceremonies Friday and Saturday, May 4-5. Entries will be judged, by the co-sponsoring offices, to determine a grand-prize winner and three runner-up selections. The grand-prize winner will receive a large diploma frame, a portfolio and a pen set. The three additional winners will receive a portfolio and pen set in recognition of their commencement-season creativity.
Contestants are asked to be creative in decorating their cap prior to submission for
contest consideration. The challenge kicks off at the Spring 2018 Grad Fair event
on 
Thursday, March 22 in University Center Room 202 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Entries should
not include inappropriate references to alcohol or the promotion of alcohol. Additionally,
qualifying entries should not include, as examples: drugs, drug paraphernalia or nudity.
Any entries deemed inappropriate will be disqualified.
For those who do not submit entries at Grad Fair, their submissions can be emailed to the [email protected] account. Contestants should submit two photos. One photo should display the cap design and the second photo should show the person holding or wearing the cap (with the cap design clearly visible).
The following information should be included with the submission:
- First and last name
- Degree to be earned
- Hometown
- A caption that describes your inspiration for your cap design.
Entrants can also email submissions to [email protected] or message to arrange a time to have the photos taken in the News Services and Social Media office, located in Prakken Building (Room 108). The information above will still need to be submitted.
Please keep in mind submitted photos may be posted on official Ferris social media accounts in addition to other Ferris publications. Contestants are encouraged to be safe and responsible in creating their works of art. The Spring 2018 Commencement Cap Photo Challenge submission deadline is Sunday, April 22, 2018, by 11:59 p.m.
Kelsey George, a College of Business senior in Public Relations from Macomb, Mich. is looking forward to graduation. She also looks forward to decorating her graduation cap for commencement.
“I think what I’m looking forward to the most about graduating is finally having the opportunity to apply everything I’ve worked for and learned over the past four years,” George said. “I’ll definitely miss the familiar faces wherever I go. My cap will most likely be covered in anything pink and gold with some witty quote on it.”
