Alumnus, Detroit Pistons Employee Returns for Sports Speaker Series Talk

Former Ferris State University cross country runner and former president of the Sports Careers RSO Nathan Wells returns to campus on Monday, Feb. 19 to share his journey from Ferris to the Detroit Pistons. The event will be held in the Interdisciplinary Resource Center, Room 115, beginning at 6 p.m.

Currently the event operations manager at Little Caesars Arena, for the Detroit Pistons, Wells offers his professional knowledge of sports management to Ferris Sports Communication students.

“I’m looking forward to him sharing the stories of the different jobs he had from the time he graduated to where he is now with the Detroit Pistons,” said Sandy Alspach, a Humanities professor in the College of Arts, Sciences and Education and advisor for the Sports Communication program. Alspach further hopes students will leave the presentation with a different perspective and understanding that Sports Communication is not limited to broadcast journalism.

Wells’ presentation is part of the Spring 2018 Sports Speaker Series co-sponsored by the Sports Careers RSO, a campus student organization. The series features one speaker per month, through April.

The event is free and open to the public, however, seating is limited and attendees are encouraged to arrive early to ensure a spot.
