Student Government Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser for Flint Water Crisis a Success

Wayne BersanoFerris State University’s Student Government Association took action to raise money to assist the citizens affected by the water crisis in Flint, Mich. SGA hosted a spaghetti dinner on Wednesday, March 2 in the University Center to collect donations.

“Student Government was approached by a student who wanted to help with the Flint crisis, but wasn’t exactly sure how to go about it,” said Lindsey Berndt, the community outreach chair for Student Government. “The spaghetti turned out to be most successful option as we brainstormed.”

Ninety-one attendees donated $5 as part of the event. In addition to the $455 raised for admission, another $180 was raised through additional donations. Monies raised will be donated to The United Way of Genesee County Flint Water Fund.

Spaghetti dinner attendees enjoyed a full-course meal that included breadsticks, salad and spaghetti catered by Ferris’ Dining Services.
