Registered Student Organizations Invited to Volunteer for ‘Bulldogs in Action’

Ferris State UniversityAs another academic year approaches, at Ferris State University, registered student organizations, or RSOs, are reminded that “Bulldogs in Action” presents an early opportunity to earn volunteer hours, and welcome new students to the university family.

The BIA program is coordinated by Ferris’ Office of Housing and Residence Life, and takes place Friday, Aug. 26, Residence Hall Move-In Day. RSOs are invited to assemble a team of volunteers, who will be asked to attend a mandatory training session on Thursday, Aug. 25, at 7 p.m. in the University Center, where all BIA participants will receive a free T-shirt. During Residence Hall Move-In Day, RSOs will participate in three two-hour shifts, and assist incoming students and families with their move-in process.

The Office of Housing and Residence Life noted that BIA participants serve an important role in helping new students feel comfortable in this time of transition, by answering questions about the university community. The event also allows these volunteers to promote their organization, and get the students and parents they contact excited about their Ferris experience.

Participants are asked to complete the signup process by Monday, Aug. 8, and select the shifts that they plan to work. Questions about Bulldogs in Action can be referred to Lisa Ortiz in the Housing and Residence Life office.
