Ferris to Host Fall Semester Career Week Activities the Week of Oct. 19

Ferris State UniversityFerris State University is preparing its students for the future through activities hosted as part of Career Week, which runs Monday, Oct. 19 through Thursday, Oct. 22.

Throughout the week, a variety of professional events will take place across campus to give students opportunities to network with more than 270 potential employers in preparation for when they will enter the job market.

“All students would benefit from attending the Career Fair because these companies are looking for a variety of majors and skill sets,” said Mickey Albright, coordinator of Career and Volunteer Centers. “We’re working hard to let students know that there is a fit for every major in any company regardless of their specialization.”

Here are the highlighted events:

Monday, Oct. 19
6 p.m., University Center Room 202 – Etiquette Dinner

To kick off Career Week, the Etiquette Dinner is designed for students to learn the proper way to dine with employers or graduate school representatives through a full, five-course meal. Students must pay $10 unless they have a meal plan and pre-register through OrgSync.

Tuesday, Oct. 20
11 a.m., University Center, Room 202 – Graduate School Expo

Numerous Ferris graduate programs as well as visiting universities will be available for students to explore educational opportunities beyond their current undergraduate program. This event concludes at 2 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 21
10 a.m., University Center Rankin Lounge – Spotlight on Michigan Employment

Speakers will be presenting information about long-term employment opportunities that are available throughout Michigan. This event concludes at 2 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 22
11 a.m., Ewigleben Sports Complex – Career and Internship Fair

This fall’s Career and Internship Fair includes more than 270 companies that are in search of students from a variety of majors to fill Internships and fulltime positions. Beginning at 10 a.m., a career exploration opportunity will be available for underclassman and high school students who are not yet career ready to explore possible career paths.
