Bantien's Internship Takes Her to Northern Michigan Digital to Apply Knowledge

Ferris State University students gain valuable work experience through internships. Internships also can confirm or redirect career decision-making, provide marketability, develop people skills and enhance classroom learning. Many academic programs require one, but the experience is encouraged regardless to provide students with a better understanding of what will be expected of them in the workplace.

Many students are participating in myriad internships this summer. Meet: Brittney Bantien:

Brittney BantienShe is: A senior from Traverse City, Mich. in the Advertising/Integrated Marketing Communications program with an associate in Graphic Design.

Internship: Bantien interned at Northern Michigan Digital, a division of Heritage Broadcasting, where she is a creative services intern.

What she is learning: During her time with Northern Michigan Digital, Bantien worked on various advertising and marketing projects. She learned how the advertising business works with help from her knowledgeable coworkers. She never had the same day twice, and constantly worked with the skills she gained with her degree in Graphic Design to help her with her projects.

What she is involved in: At Ferris, Bantien is a member of Ferris’ American Marketing Association (AMA), which she credits to helping her develop and improve her skills during her internship.

Her future plans: Bantien is looking forward to working in her field and being successful within Advertising/Integrated Marketing Communications upon graduation. Her goal one day is to become a creative director for an advertising agency. She plans on staying in Michigan once she’s graduated.
