Weller Named Interim Associate Provost for Academic Operations

Kirk Weller has been appointed Interim Associate Provost for Academic Operations for the 2014-15 academic year. Since 2008, Weller has been the Mathematics Department Head and will continue to assist the department in implementing the new actuarial science major, revised elementary and secondary programs, and innovative projects related to both developmental and general education.

Weller will work closely with Clifton Franklund and individual academic units across campus to operationalize the new general education framework, particularly as it relates to mathematics. He will also be actively involved in outreach. This includes the Woodbridge Promise programs, community college partnerships and enactment of the new MTA agreement.

In addition to his experience with mathematics education research and program revision, Weller’s Ferris service includes the Achievement Gaps Taskforce and the College of Arts, Sciences and Education Planning Committee.

Weller earned his Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Notre Dame, a master’s degree in mathematics, also from Notre Dame, a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, from Hope College, and an associate degree from Muskegon Community College.
