GRAND RAPIDS – The region's brightest emerging art and design talents will be on display
for all of West Michigan to see during Kendall College of Art and Design, Ferris State
University's Annual Student Exhibition Week, running from May 6 through May 10. Graduating
students from each of the College's undergraduate and graduate programs will showcase
their best work in three concurrent exhibitions spanning all floors of both the 17
Fountain St. NW building and the Woodbridge N. Ferris Building at 17 Pearl St. NW
in Grand Rapids.
A special exhibition in The Fed Galleries of the Woodbridge N. Ferris Building will
feature work from KCAD's 2014 Excellence Award winners. Given annually to students
who exhibit a rare level of mastery and accomplishment within their chosen field of
study, the Excellence Award represents the pinnacle of KCAD student achievement. Each
program with a graduating class selects one student to receive the award.
This year's 15 winners include the Valedictorian of the 2014 graduating class, Courtney
Wierzbicki (Interior Design).

Also housed in The Fed Galleries, the MFA Thesis exhibition will spotlight the fully
developed work of the 13 students who have completed their graduate studies. These
skilled artists have spent the last three years honing their skills in Drawing, Painting,
Printmaking, and Photography, and this exhibition offers a rare glimpse into the process,
methodology, and passion that went into the compilation of their final thesis projects.
The rest of the campus, including all seven floors of the 17 Fountain St. NW Building
and all four floors of the Woodbridge N. Ferris Building, will be transformed into
one massive gallery. From Metals and Jewelry Design to Medical Illustration to Industrial
Design, each program will have a unique section of the campus to display the best
work from its 2014 graduates.
Student Exhibition Week will commence with a campus-wide opening reception on May
6 from 4-7pm that is free and open to the public. There is also no charge to view
the exhibitions, which will run through May 10.
