FerrisNow Program Expands Secondary School Partnerships

Ferris State University continues to increase college access for Michigan high school students. The University has added 5 new secondary school partners and 12 new instructors to its FerrisNow Program for the upcoming academic year.

Through FerrisNow, high school students enroll in college courses to earn transcripted college credit. They gain college experience while saving time and money towards their future college expenses.

“The FerrisNow program is expanding, providing greater access to college opportunities for Michigan students,” said DeeDee Stakley, the Director of the Office of Transfer and Secondary School Partnerships, which oversees the FerrisNow Program. “We are pleased to announce that the FerrisNow program is adding new partners and FerrisNow instructors. Providing access to students and meeting the needs of our high school and tech center partners is a primary focus for the FerrisNow program.”

New FerrisNow partners include:

  • LifeTech Academy (Lansing, Mich.)
  • Mecosta-Osceola Career Center (Big Rapids, Mich.)
  • Riverview Community High School (Riverview, Mich.)
  • Traverse City Central High School (Traverse City, Mich.)
  • Van Buren Tech Early College (Lawrence, Mich.)

FerrisNow has added 12 instructors to its program:

  • Dawn Cuming, Kent Career Tech Center (Grand Rapids, Mich.)
  • Kate Felcyn, Armada High School (Armada, Mich.)
  • Becky Harvey, Traverse City Central High School (Traverse City, Mich.)
  • Leslie Kirschenbauer, Kent Career Tech Center (Grand Rapids, Mich.)
  • Hailey Kane, Kent Career Tech Center (Grand Rapids, Mich.)
  • Margaret Novy, Traverse City West Senior High School (Traverse City, Mich.)

 The FerrisNow Program is collaborating with 34 secondary institutions during the 2019-2020 academic year. FerrisNow also works with the University’s Center for [email protected] Studies and Charter Schools Office on college-in-high-school programs.
