Biography

My research interests are centered on the pragmatic implementation and improvement of direct patient care services in community and ambulatory care pharmacy practice. More specifically, I am excited about growth of direct patient care opportunities like medication therapy management (MTM) and collaborative drug therapy management (CDTM). MTM is a form of extended patient counseling, usually taking place in a community pharmacy setting, and generally consisting of 15-60 minute appointments. In the ambulatory care setting, CDTM is similar to MTM, but CDTM often incorporates a different emphasis on the assessment and plan for improving patient care. Especially as MTM and CDTM continue to grow, I am interested in the involvement of pharmacy technicians in both dispensing and non-dispensing roles to assist the pharmacist, as well as areas of synergy between pharmacogenomics and these direct patient care opportunities.
