MOSA - Membership Information

It can be difficult to juggle all our responsibilities while in school, but it is never too early to get involved in activities at the local (MOSA) or state level (MOA). Your time in school will be very rewarding, but remember that optometry is not just books; extra curricular activities are important at every stage of your life.

Political Awareness Protects Optometry:

By keeping in touch with MOA board members, the MOSA officers try to stay current with the legislators and legislation that help shape our profession. Any important news that comes our way is passed on to you. Staying informed is an important step in contributing to the future of our profession.

Here are a few more ideas of how you can help:

  • Find out who the optometry-friendly candidates or legislators are.
  • Attend candidate / legislator fundraiser events.
  • Write legislators about legislation that concerns you.
  • Attend campaign work sessions or meetings.
  • Volunteer to help with telephone banking or prepare mailings.
  • Most important - become an educated voter and educate others.
  • Remember financial contributions aren’t necessary -- your time and interest are always appreciated.
