Daniel Van Elk, OD
Ocular Disease Resident
Dr. Daniel Van Elk is the current Ocular Disease resident at Specialty Eye Institute. Dr. Van Elk was born in Kalamazoo, MI. He earned his bachelor's degree in instrumental music education from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI. He went on to graduate with honors from the Michigan College of Optometry (MCO).
During externships, Dr. Van Elk completed his training at the Battle Creek VA (Battle Creek, MI), Duane Waters Prison Hospital (Jackson, MI), Michigan State University Neuro-Ophthalmology (Lansing, MI), and DeWitt Optometry (DeWitt, MI). While attending MCO he was a student member of the Michigan Optometric Association (MOA) and was a student fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
In his free time, Dr. Van Elk enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids and spending time at Lake Michigan. Following the completion of his residency he plans to join a practice of eye care specialists that provide top quality eye care and eye surgery to patients.
