Wayne State University, BS-Criminal Justice
I have thirty years of public safety experience, including over twenty-six years with the City of Troy Police Department, where I functioned in virtually every area of a large municipal police operation. I retired as a Captain, which is second in command under the Chief of Police. I served the City of Milan as both Chief of Police and City Administrator after leaving Troy. I had training and teaching experience during my career in public safety. I began my career with Ferris State University in January, 2017 as a full-time Faculty/Advisor in the Statewide Criminal Justice Program.
During my tenure at the City of Troy Police Department, as well as the City of Milan, especially in middle and executive level management positions, I was responsible for and have extensive experience in research, development, and implementation of best practices, tactics, policy and procedure, internal affairs, human resources, civil litigation, and change management.
The field of Criminal Justice is critical to our society's safety, stability, and security; it represents a calling to make a positive difference. Attracting students to this field, as well as equipping them with the skills, knowledge, attributes, and expertise to succeed, using my educational and professional experience as a foundation, represents my current professional interest and focus.
