Pat on the Back Awards April 2008

Congratulations to —

I would like to nominate Paul Kwant. I know that Paul has become our utility fielder for the office of Admissions and Records. He handles everything from rescheduling our New Student Receptions, which were canceled in January due to inclement weather, to handling last minute materials requested by various offices across campus. He is definitely valued and depended on to come through when the going gets tough. For example, just recently he had to step back into his former role as admissions officer when the officer assigned to present at our Saturday Dawg Days Visit ended up with laryngitis. Not an easy feat to get in front of 200 guests and give a presentation that you haven't done in over a year. He did wonderful and the visitors appreciated his expertise.

I would like to nominate Sarah Rice for a pat on the back award. Sarah has been instrumental in our stewardship & donor relations area for two specific activities. First, Sarah managed the Presidents football box to a new level here at FSU. Sarah put in countless hours and made many behind the scenes things work efficiently and effectively. Second, Sarah managed our endowment reporting/discussion process along with Pam Harvey and did an excellent job. The amount of detail in preparing endowment reports was extremely difficult. Sarah did an excellent job bringing the right parties to the table and preparing to get the reports mailed to donors on time. In addition, Sarah is always willing to assist with new and ongoing projects with a great attitude.

I would like to nominate the following people for their extra efforts during spring break. This group was responsible for testing 150 computers and breaking down another 150 computers, resulting in the disposal of 4500 pounds of computer components. David Coleman, Daniel Bowmen, Eric Burson, Jennifer Rhodes, Gary Lutz, Paul Heidemann, Allison Mandley, Heather Witter, Tina Hilgeman, Will Duran, Steve Bohren.

I would like to nominate Walter (Mike) Kelly, automotive department maintenance technician. Mike helped me this past week by creatively hooking up a tank so that I could perform a valuable expansion valve demonstration for my automotive HVAC students. Mike does not come up with excuses rather he delivers with solutions. He helps us to help our students. Thank you!

I would like to nominate Mike DePew for a pat on the back. He was able to retrieve some lost data, quickly and was a lifesaver. His attention to the problem and his expertise are to be commended.

I would like to nominate the following people for a Pat-on-the-back award: Mike Langan, Vicky Rockey, Amber Morgan, Jeannette Seither, Rachel Bonner, Tom Morris and Paula Walters. On Thursday, March 27, 2008 these folks gave the Big Rapids Brownie Troop #3121 a tour of MASCAR Grille . While the girls were at MASCAR they also learned about how the best pizzas on campus are made and had a blast. Thank you for making the day special for the girls.
