Introducing Our Newest Academy
We are excited to welcome a new school to the FSU-charter school portfolio: New Hope Public School Academy. The Academy was authorized for a period of five years by the Ferris State University Board of Trustees at their October meeting. Located in Saginaw, the Academy is an outgrowth of the Samaritas Community Center which has served their Saginaw neighborhood for over 70 years. New Hope Public School Academy is slated to open in fall 2019 and will be managed by Choice Schools Associates.
Welcome New CSO Team Member
We are pleased to introduce a new member of the CSO team, Bob Fidler, our new Academic Assessment Specialist. Bob brings an impressive wealth of experience and knowledge to the position having served as the Curriculum Director for Comstock Park Public Schools for several years, in addition to serving as an Elementary Principal for a number of years as well. Since his "retirement", Bob has been developing his own consulting company centered on data analysis and professional development for school staff. We are confident Bob's skills will be a strong asset to the CSO and to our academies.
Bob will be making contact with each FSU-authorized academy to introduce himself and discuss how he can be of assistance. Bob can be reached at [email protected] or 231-591-5805.
Reauthorization and Campus Expansion
Congratulation to New Bedford Academy on being reauthorized for a period of five years
by the Ferris State University Board of Trustees. New Bedford Academy, located in
Lambertville, was one of the schools in FSU's inaugural class of public school academies,
and recently also celebrated their 20th year of operation. The Academy is managed
by Educational Partnerships, Inc.
Lighthouse Academy, with its main campus located in Grand Rapids, was granted authority to open their seventh campus under their FSU charter--this one located in Charlevoix. The Academy will be serving adjudicated, probationary and incarcerated youth in the Charlevoix and East Jordan community.
