For those people who like to be around children, a career in early childhood
education can be a labor of love.
The Early Childhood Education program at Ferris teaches a broad spectrum of courses.
Students learn about the education of children and study early childhood development,
nutrition, first aid, children's literature and child psychology. They also
receive a broad educational background by completing general education courses
in English, mathematics, humanities and sociology.
Practical experience is another significant part of the program. Majors have
the opportunity in the child development laboratory to observe and work with
infants, toddlers and preschoolers, applying theories and techniques taught
in the classroom.
As the health care industry continues to grow and expand, the demand for medical
record technicians also increases. Employment is expected to grow faster than
average through the year 2008 because of rapid growth in tests, treatments
and procedures available. Many graduates of the Medical Record Technology program
are employed in hospitals, but job growth is projected to be greatest in physician's
offices and clinics, nursing homes and home health agencies. At the end of the
program, you will be eligible to apply to write the national certification
examination to earn the designation of Registered Health Information Technician
(RHIT). This program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied
Health Education Programs in collaboration with the American Health Information
Management Association. General admission requirements: a 2.0 GPA in high school
or college work.

this degree, the Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS), that will accept a variety
of college credits and eases the transfer process. We've even built in options
for granting credit for prior learning or military training.
