Call Answering (Voice Messaging) is available in University Apartments and all Residence Halls except Cramer, Puterbaugh and Taggart at this time.

Call Answering works like an answering machine built into your telephone line. If your line is busy or unanswered after four rings, Call Answering will answer the call, play your personal greeting and ask the caller to leave a message in your mailbox. Student mailboxes have three minutes of storage. Old messages will be automatically deleted after one week. After a password is set up, you can retrieve messages from any touch tone telephone.

Mailbox Setup

Mailbox setup must be initially performed from the telephone in your residence.

  1. Call the system by dialing x50l5. You will hear a welcome to the Meridian Mail System. You will then be asked to enter your Mailbox Number, which is your extension number followed by the number (#) sign. The number (#) sign is your enter key. A Call Answering overview will be played.
  2. Press 92 to enter a password. Follow recorded instructions.
  3. Press 1 to record your personal greeting. Follow recorded instructions.
Your mailbox is ready for use.
