FSU VOLLEYBALL DOWNS TIFFIN AS WIN STRING REACHES SIX

The winning ways continue for the 2008 Ferris State women's volleyball team as the Bulldogs won their sixth consecutive match with a 3-1 triumph (25-18, 23-25, 25-20, 25-18) over Tiffin (Ohio) Saturday (Oct. 11) afternoon in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action at UT's Gillmor Center in Tiffin, Ohio.

The Bulldogs, who hit .233 for the match with 50 kills on 116 attempts, improved to 13-7 overall and 7-4 in the GLIAC with the win.

Sophomore middle hitter Arielle Goodson (Grand Rapids/Central continued to shine with a match-high 16 kills on .357 hitting to go with six digs. Junior middle hitter Kristy Gilchrist (Macomb/Anchor Bay) registered 11 kills with a .304 attack percentage.

Junior outside hitter Sarah Lark (Alma) hit at a .625 clip with five kills in eight chances and junior outside hitter Amanda Kettlewell contributed five kills on .571 hitting.

Senior setter-outside hitter Candice Marut (Pinconning) racked up a match-best 21 assists with five digs and fellow senior setter Andrea Rich (New Baltimore/Anchor Bay) contributed 16 assists with eight digs and three service aces.

Redshirt freshman libero Lisa Tobiczyk (Marysville) was the lone Bulldog in double digit digs with a match-leading 13 total as Ferris State generated a 50-match total to Tiffin's 20-digs total.

Sophomore defensive specialist Dana Ruttle (Reed City) and freshman outside hitter Ashley Huntey (Stanwood/Morley-Stanwood) produced a match-best five and four service aces, respectively as the Bulldogs were able to amass 14 as a team.

Tiffin falls to 10-11 overall and 1-10 in the GLIAC as a result of the setback.
