FERRIS VOLLEYBALL TEAM READS TO LOCAL PRESCHOOL STUDENTS

Several student-athletes of the 2008 Ferris State University women's volleyball team recently held a reading session with a local community preschool class on the FSU campus as part of national Reading Month.

Volleyball Reading The preschool class of the Ferris State Tot's Place Child Development Center was invited to a Bulldog women's volleyball practice at FSU's Ewigleben Sports Arena in Big Rapids, Mich., to view the action. During practice breaks, the children were taught by the student-athletes and coaching staff members to cheer Go Bulldogs!

Following the Bulldogs' practice, Ferris State head coach Tia Brandel-Wilhelm read a book to both her team and the preschool group entitled Mrs. Wishey Washey.

The preschool students brought their favorite book from home with them and were paired up with one of the women's volleyball student-athletes, who read their book to them.

The day concluded with activities such as relays and practicing some volleyball skills techniques before finishing with a lengthy of freeze tag.

The Preschool Reading event is one of several community learning projects which the Ferris State women's volleyball program undertakes on an annual basis.
