Two members of the 2005 Ferris State University women’s volleyball team, junior outside hitter Danielle Baucher (Kalamazoo/Mattawan) and senior libero Brittny Godlewski (St. Clair Township/Marysville), have both received All-Great Lakes Region accolades from two different sources.

Baucher and Godlewski were among seven individuals garnering second-team 2005 Daktronics All-Great Lakes Region kudos. In addition, they both have been named honorable mention American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Great Lakes Region picks for the 2005 campaign.

The duo guided Ferris State to the school's 13th overall NCAA Division II Tournament appearance this season. Ferris, which concluded the year with a 22-10 overall record, dropped a 3-0 decision to Southern Illinois-Edwardsville in the NCAA-II Great Lakes Regional quarterfinals last Thursday (Nov. 17) in Grand Valley State's Fieldhouse Arena at Allendale, Mich.

The 5-10 Baucher, who was a first-team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) honoree this season, registered at least 10 kills and 10 digs in 18 of her last 21 outings this campaign. She has 998 career kills to date and is two shy of becoming the 14th player in school history to join the 1,000 career kills club. Baucher, who became the program’s 10th member of the 1,000 digs club this season, would also become only the sixth player in Bulldog history to record both 1,000 career kills and digs. She totaled a team-high 408 kills along with 452 digs this campaign. She previously received second-team All-GLIAC laurels along with GLIAC All-Academic Team honors in 2004.

The 5-7 Godlewski concluded her career with 1,419 career digs and ranks second all-time in school history. She was only 50 shy of matching Janna Biggs’ (1985-88) school-record total of 1,469 digs. Godlewski attained All-GLIAC Second Team recognition for the second consecutive year this campaign after becoming the first libero position player in league history to receive either first or second-team GLIAC kudos in 2004. The two-time GLIAC All-Academic Team pick totaled a team and personal career-high 449 digs this campaign and recorded 23 double-figure dig outings.

Godlewski received second-team Daktronics laurels for the third consecutive campaign while Baucher tallied honorable mention AVCA recognition for the second year in a row.

Twelve individuals garnered first-team accolades on the AVCA list and six other players received honorable mention honors. The Daktronics first and second teams were comprised of seven players each (one setter, two outside hitters, two middle hitters/blockers, one right/opposite side hitter, and one libero/defensive specialist).

AVCA member head coaches nominate and choose their respective all-region players through a committee process. Sports Information Directors from throughout the region nominate players for and vote on the Daktronics All-Region teams.

Ferris State recorded the program's eighth consecutive winning campaign this year and the 2005 season marked the 25th-straight year the Bulldogs have reached double-figures in victories. The last time FSU failed to record at least 10 victories was in 1980 (5-21). Ferris also advanced to the GLIAC Tournament for the eighth year in a row this campaign while the squad's 22-10 mark represented the school's seventh 20-win season in the last eight years to date.
