Vic Finch, who was FSU's assistant men's and women's track and field coach this past year, will serve as the squad's interim track and field coach for the 2008-09 athletics campaign. Meanwhile, former Bulldog runner Steve Picucci will guide the men's and women's cross country programs in an interim role during the fall 2008 season as well as assist with the track program.

A search for a permanent replacement will take place following the 2008-09 athletics season.

A 1980 Midland (Mich.) High School graduate, Finch majored in physical education during his undergraduate tenure at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Ind. He has past coaching experience on the collegiate level as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I institutions including Michigan State, Indiana State and Eastern Michigan prior to Ferris. Additionally, he also coached both track and cross country at Southwestern Michigan College.

Picucci joined the track/cross country staff prior to the 2007-08 campaign and also served in a game management role for the athletics department this past school year. A former Bulldog standout from 1999-2003, Picucci became the first four-year letterwinner in both men’s cross country and track at Ferris since each program was reinstated in 1999. He earned All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Cross Country Second Team accolades in 2002 and registered conference all-academic team laurels a combined 11 times while being selected as the men’s cross country team’s Most Valuable Runner three times in his collegiate career.

The Bulldog men's and women's cross country teams are tentatively slated to open the 2008 campaign by taking part in the GLIAC Preview Meet on Saturday, Sept. 6, in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. FSU opens the 2008-09 track and field season indoors at the Lake Superior State Open on Jan. 17 in Sault Ste. Marie.
