Ferris State Women's Soccer Notes

Ferris State has presently won six of its last eight outings this campaign, including three of its last four. FSU had its three-match winning streak snapped Saturday (Oct. 1) in a 2-1 loss at Northern Michigan.
The Bulldogs have presently won five of their last six overtime contests dating back to last campaign. FSU was 3-0-1 in extra period action during the 2004 season and is 2-1 to date in overtime contests this year.
Each of FSU's last seven outings have been decided by two goals or less. Seven of Ferris' 12 matches this year have resulted in a 2-1 final score with Ferris claiming three of those victories.
Senior midfielder Jen Gaylor's (Roscommon) six goals to date this year ranks as the Bulldogs' most this season and already ranks tied for ninth place on the program's single-season goal scoring chart.
Sophomore midfielder Kristie Smilanich's (Kalamazoo/Christian) seven assists to date this year currently ranks tied for the program's third-highest single season assists figure.
Junior goalkeeper Carla Gilbertson (Waunakee, Wis.) presently has 236 career saves and needs 76 more to match Alana Dombrowski's (2000-03) school-record total of 312 career saves. Her 22 victories (22-17-1) to date in net represent the most wins for a goalkeeper in FSU history.
Ferris State has totaled 23 goals and only given up 15 goals in 12 outings to date this year. The Bulldogs have also currently outshot their opponents 222-136 this season. Ferris has allowed only one goal or less in six of its last eight contests this season.
Senior forward Lindsey Pawloski (Royal Oak/Kimball) has tallied at least one point in five of her last six appearances this season.
Senior midfielder Andrea Moma (Middleville/Wayland Union) and senior midfielder Kristin Aukeman (Hudsonville/Unity Christian) both have played in 68 career contests, which represents the fifth-highest figure in school history. The most games played in school history was 71 by Kristin Bator from 2000-03. Moma's 65 career starts is one away from tying Emily Rogers' (2000-03) school-record total of 66 starting appearances. Aukeman has started 64 games in her career.
Senior forward Lisa O'Brian (Kalamazoo/Loy Norrix) presently has the program's second-highest all-time points figure with 59 (24-11--59) career points while Lindsey Pawloski presently ranks third on the chart with 51 (20-11--51) career points.
Third-year Ferris head coach Melissa Lalonde became the program's all-time winningest coach with FSU's 3-1 non-league win at Charleston (W.Va.) on Sept. 11. She has a current 27-18-2 (.596) mark at the Bulldog helm.
FSU's 2005 squad features four of the program's top five career scoring leaders in Lisa O'Brian (2nd-59 points), Lindsey Pawloski (3rd-51), Jen Gaylor (4th-39) and Andrea Moma (5th-37).
The Bulldogs will host Gannon Friday, Oct. 7, for a 4 p.m. (EDT) conference home contest at the FSU Varsity Soccer Field in Big Rapids, Mich. Ferris then squares off against Mercyhurst Sunday, Oct. 9, in a 1 p.m. (EDT) GLIAC home encounter.
Ferris is 5-1 all-time against Gannon and has won five consecutive series' contests to date. The Bulldogs are 0-6 all-time versus Mercyhurst, including an 0-3 mark in Big Rapids.
After this weekend's homestand, three of FSU's final four outings this season will be on the road.
Ferris and Northern Michigan currently trail Grand Valley State, Saginaw Valley State and Ashland by one game in the GLIAC standings. FSU and NMU are currently 1-1 in league play with the other three teams at 2-0 heading into action this week.
