FERRIS' JEN GAYLOR HONORED AS SECOND-TEAM ALL-REGION PICK

Senior Midfielder Is School's First-Ever All-Region Recipient

Senior midfielder Jen Gaylor (Roscommon) of the 2005 Ferris State University women's soccer team has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Great Lakes Region Second Team in an announcement made by the NSCAA.

Jen Gaylor A 2005 All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) First-Team pick, Gaylor was one of 11 players chosen to the second-team. The NSCAA also honored 11 others as first-team selections. Gaylor, who was among nine student-athletes from GLIAC-member schools named to one of the two teams, also became the first player in the seven-year history of the FSU women's soccer program to attain all-region recognition.

The 5-9 Gaylor, who missed all of the 2004 campaign due to injury, compiled a team-leading 10 goals this season. Her 20 total points included three game-winning markers along with one hat trick performance in Ferris' 4-1 league home victory over Gannon (Oct. 7). Gaylor also claimed GLIAC Player of the Week Award accolades once (Oct. 10) this campaign.

A 2003 All-GLIAC Second Team honoree, Gaylor concluded her career listed fourth among the program's all-time scoring leaders with 47 career points on 20 goals and seven assists in 73 career outings. Gaylor's 20 career markers also places her fourth on the school's career goal-scoring chart. Her recognition this season as a first-team all-league pick represented the first time a FSU player had received first-team conference laurels since Emily Rogers and Lisa O'Brian both earned the distinction in 2003.

Gaylor concluded the season ranked eighth in goals (0.56 gpg) among the GLIAC's overall statistical leaders and finished 10th (1.11 ppg) in total points.

Ferris, which won 10 of its final 14 outings this campaign, wrapped up its 2005 slate with an 11-7 overall record and a fourth place 5-3 GLIAC mark. FSU's 11 victories this season under third-year head coach Melissa Lalonde tied for the program's most wins in school history.
