The Bulldogs, who are currently 4-2-0 overall, are now idle until opening Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play Thursday, Oct. 2, at Northwood. Senior forward Emily Rogers (Traverse City/Central) registered five points and had a pair of goals in Ferris' three outings last week. The 5-6 Rogers garnered Ferris State's first goal in both last Tuesday's (Sept. 9) 2-1 non-league win over Aquinas and Sunday's (Sept. 14) 4-3 double-overtime loss to Indianapolis. She also added an assist against the Greyhounds. Rogers totaled 17 shots, including 11 shots on goal in the three contests.
Sophomore forward Lisa O'Brian's (Kalamazoo, Mich./Loy Norrix) seven goals to date this campaign ranks fifth on FSU's single-season chart and is four shy of tying the school's single-season record (11) posted by current FSU senior forward Emily Rogers during both the 2000 and 2002 campaigns. O'Brian moved into second place on the school's career points leaders list with a goal against Indianapolis. She presently has 27 career points and trails only Rogers' school-leading 93 career points.
Emily Rogers currently has 93 career points and is seven shy of notching her 100th career point. She presently is Ferris' career leader in both points and goals (35). Her six assists to date this campaign currently ranks second among the school's single-season leaders.
Sophomore forward Lindsey Pawloski (Royal Oak/Kimball) tallied two goals in Ferris' three outings last week. The 5-9 Pawloski netted the game-winning goal in FSU's win over Aquinas and recorded her third goal this campaign versus Indianapolis.
Senior goalkeeper Alana Dombrowki (Gaylord) and freshman goalkeeper Carla Gilbertson (Waunakee, Wis.) have split time in net this season for Ferris State. Dombrowski, who has played the first period in all six contests, has compiled a 2-0-0 record and made 22 saves. Gilbertson is presently 2-2-0 overall and has 24 saves in 281:00 of action.
Ferris, which began playing women's soccer in 1999, fell to 1-5-6 all-time in overtime contests with Sunday's 4-3 double-overtime setback to Indianapolis. The Greyhounds tied the contest with :01 remaining in regulation and scored the game-winning goal only one minute into the second extra period to notch the win.
Ferris State has scored only three goals in its last two contests (1.5 gpg) to date after totaling 13 goals in its first four outings (3.25 gpg) this campaign.
FSU's current 4-2-0 mark ranks as the school's second-best record in its initial six games of a campaign. The 2000 squad opened the year with a 4-1-1 mark before finishing 8-7-1 overall.
