Ferris State Women's Soccer Notes

Ferris State improved to 11-4-1 overall with a 3-1 non-league win over Calvin last Saturday (Nov. 1) in its 2003 home finale at FSU's Varsity Soccer Field in Big Rapids, Mich. The Bulldogs' current overall record and 5-2 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) mark both represent the school's best performances in the program's five-year history.

Ferris State has posted a 5-1-1 mark in away outings this campaign, which tops its previous school-best 4-3-1 performance set during the 2000 campaign.

FSU is presently ranked sixth in the current (Nov. 3) National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional rankings. The Bulldogs have either won or tied eight of their last 10 outings to date.

FSU's 36 assists, 40 goals and 116 total points this season rank first on the school's single-season charts.

Sophomore midfielder Kristin Aukeman (Hudsonville/Unity Christian) currently has seven assists to date this campaign, which ranks third to date on Ferris' single-season leaders chart.

Senior forward Emily Rogers (Traverse City/Central) notched two goals and an assist to lead Ferris against Calvin. FSU's nine senior players were recognized prior to the contest.

Sophomore forward Lisa O'Brian's (Kalamazoo/Loy Norrix) 15 goals to date this campaign represents the school's top individual single-season performance in history. She has four game-winning goals this year, including last Saturday's second-half marker versus Calvin.

Emily Rogers' 38 total points to date this campaign ranks first among the school's all-time single-season leaders. Her 12 assists to date this season also tops her own school mark of eight assists recorded in 2001.

Lisa O'Brian currently has 15 goals this campaign and surpassed Emily Rogers' school-record 11-goal single-season total set during both the 2000 and 2002 seasons.

Freshman goalkeeper Carla Gilbertson (Waunakee, Wis.) broke the school's single-season record for victories with her win against Calvin. Gilbertson, who is presently 7-3-0 in net this campaign, surpassed the six victories posted by current senior goalkeeper Alana Dombrowski (Gaylord) in 2002.

Emily Rogers is presently ranked eighth nationally in assists (0.85 apg) and 20th in points (2.38 ppg) in the latest (Oct. 19) NCAA Division II National Statistics. Lisa O'Brian is listed 28th in goals per game (0.92 gpg).

Ferris compiled a 5-3 record in eight home outings this campaign. FSU won four of its final five home contests after dropping two of its first three encounters.

The Bulldogs will conclude the 2003 regular-season campaign this Saturday (Nov. 8) versus league rival Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich. The contest is slated for a 2 p.m. (EST) start. The Lakers are sixth in the current (Nov. 3) NSCAA Division II National Rankings.

Ferris, which is 3-1 all-time versus GVSU, has won three consecutive series' meetings by identical 1-0 scores. FSU is 2-2 all-time in its final regular-season outing.
