Ferris State Women's Soccer Notes

The Ferris State women's soccer team set a school record for most conference victories in a single-season with Sunday's (Oct. 26) 3-1 league triumph at Findlay. FSU's current 10-4-1 overall record and 5-2 GLIAC mark both represent the school's best performances in the program's five-year history.

Sophomore forward Lisa O'Brian (Kalamazoo/Loy Norrix) tallied both the first goal and the game-winning marker at Findlay. The 5-6 O'Brian totaled six shots in two weekend contests. She presently ranks as Ferris State's second-leading scorer with 31 points on a team-leading 14 goals and three assists this campaign. O'Brian's 14 goals to date represents the school's top individual single-season performance in history.

Senior forward Emily Rogers' (Traverse City/Central) 33 total points to date this campaign ranks first among the school's all-time single-season leaders. Her 11 assists to date this season also tops her own school mark of eight assists recorded in 2001.

Freshman goalkeeper Carla Gilbertson (Waunakee, Wis.) tied the school's single-season record of six victories with her win at Findlay. Gilbertson, who is presently 6-3-0 in net this campaign, matched the six victories posted by current senior goalkeeper Alana Dombrowski (Gaylord) in 2002. Dombrowski has recorded a 4-1-0 overall record this campaign.

Ferris State has posted a 5-1-1 mark in away outings this campaign, which tops its previous school-best 4-3-1 road performance set during the 2000 campaign.

FSU's 34 assists, 37 goals and 108 total points this season rank first on the school's single-season charts.

Sophomore midfielder Kristin Aukeman (Hudsonville/Unity Christian) recorded two assists in Sunday's win at Findlay. The 5-5 Aukeman currently has six assists to date this campaign, which ranks third to date on Ferris' single-season leaders chart.

Sophomore forward Lindsey Pawloski (Royal Oak/Kimball) has four goals and three assists in 15 outings to date this campaign compared to her one goal and two assist total in eight outings a season ago.

The Bulldogs have either won or tied seven of their last nine outings to date.

FSU is presently ranked sixth in the current (Oct. 27) National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional rankings.

Ferris State will host Calvin this Saturday (Nov. 1) in a 12 p.m. (EST) non-league encounter at the FSU Varsity Soccer Field in Big Rapids, Mich. The Senior Day contest is FSU's final home outing of the 2003 campaign.

The Bulldogs will honor nine seniors prior to Saturday's contest including midfielder Holly Alexander (Belmont/Rockford), defenseman Kristin Bator (Saginaw/Heritage), midfielder Mandy Cafmeyer (Greenville), Dombrowski, midfielder Julia Hitchingham (Owosso), midfielder Sara Ideran (Bloomington, Ill./Normal), forward Diana Jacobson (Stillman Valley, Ill.), forward Gayle Lukes (Kokomo, Ind./Western) and Rogers.
