Nov. 9: FSU Finishes 17th At Regional Championships

The Ferris State University men’s cross country team finished 17th overall at the 2002 NCAA-II Great Lakes Regional Championships held Saturday (Nov. 9) at Rolling Hills Golf Course in Hudsonville, Mich.

Junior Joe Every paced FSU with a 40th place finish in a time of 33:56.7 on the 10K course. Senior Pat Wehrman was 70th (35:02.4), senior Steve Picucci placed 110th (36:40.8) and sophomore Ben Baldwin finished 125th (37:58.4) for FSU. Sophomore Kurt Kramer added a 127th place finish (39:12.1) in the 130-competitor field.

Oct. 29: FSU's Steve Picucci Garners Second-Team All-GLIAC Laurels

Steve PicucciFerris State University senior men's cross country runner Steve Picucci (Brighton) received second-team 2002 All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) accolades with a 14th place finish at the GLIAC Championships last Saturday (Oct. 26) at Kensington Metropark in Milford, Mich.

Picucci clocked 25:41.6 on the 8K course to lead Ferris, which finished eighth in the final team standings. The performance was his fifth top 15 finish this campaign.

Picucci, who was named the GLIAC Runner of the Week twice this season, has claimed two individual titles. He won the Northwood Invitational on Sept. 6 at Midland, Mich., and also emerged victorious in FSU's Bulldog Invitational on Sept. 27 in Big Rapids. He completed the 8K Bulldog Invitational course at Katke Golf Course in a time of 25:02.10 while clocking 26:17.5 at Northwood.

The top seven runners at the league meet garnered first-team all-conference recognition while those who finished in spots eight through 15 earned second-team kudos.

Ferris will take part in the 2002 NCAA-II Great Lakes Regional Championships next Saturday, Nov. 9, at Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich.


Oct. 26: Bulldogs Place Eighth At 2002 GLIAC Championships

The Ferris State University men’s cross country team finished eighth overall at the 2002 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) championships held on Saturday (Oct. 26) at Kensington Metropark in Milford, Mich.

Senior Steve Picucci placed 14th overall to lead the Bulldogs in a time of 25:41.6. Junior Joe Every was 33rd (26:35.8), senior Pat Wehrman was 41st (26:49.4), sophomore Ben Baldwin finished 87th (28:41.0) and sophomore Kurt Kramer was 104th (30:40.7).

Oct. 16: FSU's Steve Picucci Garners GLIAC Runner Of The Week Honors

Senior Steve Picucci (Brighton) of the Ferris State University men's cross country team has been named this week's (Oct. 16) Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

Picucci, who has now earned the honor twice this campaign, placed fourth overall among 108 competitors to lead Ferris at the Michigan Intercollegiate Championships held last Friday (Oct. 11) at Kensington Metropark in Milford, Mich.

Picucci, who has four top 10 performances this season, clocked 25:31.9 on the 8K course while finishing behind three NCAA Division I runners from Eastern Michigan. His performance topped the collegiate division field, which included all non-Division I competitors.

In six meets this season, Picucci has claimed two individual titles. He won the Northwood Invitational on Sept. 6 at Midland, Mich., and also emerged victorious in FSU's Bulldog Invitational on Sept. 27 in Big Rapids. He completed the 8K Bulldog Invitational course at Katke Golf Course in a time of 25:02.10 while clocking 26:17.5 at Northwood.

The Bulldogs will return to action Saturday, Oct. 26, in the 2002 GLIAC Championships at Kensington Metropark. The race, which will be hosted by Wayne State, is slated to begin at 10 a.m. (EDT).


Oct. 11: Steve Picucci Leads Bulldog Men At Michigan Intercollegiate Championships

Senior Steve Picucci placed fourth overall among 108 competitors to lead the Ferris State University men’s cross country team at the Michigan Intercollegiate Championships held Friday (Oct. 11) at Kensington Metropark in Milford, Mich.

Picucci clocked 25:31.9 on the 8K course while finishing behind three NCAA Division I runners. His performance topped the collegiate division field, which included 95 participants. The Bulldogs had only four runners compete and did not score in the team race. Eastern Michigan finished first overall with 24 points followed by Grand Valley State (56) and Wayne State (81).

Junior Joe Every finished 25th overall at 26:27.4, senior Pat Wehrman was 37th (27:19.3) and sophomore Ben Baldwin placed 92nd (29:53.1) overall.

FSU will return to action Saturday, Oct. 26, in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships at Kensington Metropark. The race is slated to begin at 10 a.m. (EDT).

Oct. 5: Bulldog Men Place 23rd Overall At Lakefront Invitational

The Ferris State University men’s cross country team had two runners finish among the top 100 competitors en route to a 23rd place overall team finish at the 30th annual Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational held on Saturday (Oct. 5) at Montrose Beach in Chicago, Ill.

Senior Steve Picucci led the Bulldogs as he placed 23rd overall in the 448-runner field in a time of 25:29. Junior Joe Every was 87th (26:27), senior Pat Wehrman finished 122nd (26:54) and sophomore Ben Baldwin placed 320th (29:35). Sophomore Kurt Kramer added a 424th place finish (34:43) for FSU.

Ferris tallied 698 points in the 45-team race. The Bulldogs finished 17th overall in the non-NCAA Division I field with 512 points while Picucci was 14th overall among the non NCAA-I runners.

FSU will take part in the Michigan Intercollegiate Championships this Friday (Oct. 11) at 4:30 p.m. (EDT) at Kensington Metropark in Milford, Mich.

Sept. 28: Picucci Claims Individual Title To Lead FSU In Home Meet

Senior Steve Picucci claimed his second individual championship of the 2002 campaign Friday (Sept. 27) as the Ferris State University men's cross country team placed fourth overall in the 28th running of its own Bulldog Invitational at FSU's Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Mich.

Picucci, who earlier this season (Sept. 6) won the Northwood Invitational, clocked 25:02.10 on the 8K course en route to the title. The Bulldogs, who had three runners finish among the top 20 and scored 116 total points, finished behind team champion Central Michigan (20 points), Lansing Community College (85) and Saginaw Valley State (111).

Junior Joe Every placed 14th overall (26:06.40), senior Pat Wehrman was 20th (26:46.10) and sophomore Ben Baldwin was 56th (28:47.20). Sophomore Kurt Kramer finished 58th (28:55.50) among the 79 competitors.

FSU will return to action this Saturday (Oct. 5) at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational in Chicago, Ill. The race is slated to begin at 11 a.m. (EDT).

Sept. 22: Picucci Leads Bulldogs At Pre-Great Lakes Region Meet

Senior Steve Picucci placed 10th overall to lead the Ferris State University men’s cross country team at the Pre-Great Lakes Region Invitational held last Friday (Sept. 20) at Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich.

Picucci clocked 26:22.19 in the 8K event, which included 100 runners. No team scores were kept in the competition.

Junior Joe Every finished 28th overall (27:09.35) and senior Pat Wehrman was 42nd (28:01.28) as the Bulldogs placed three runners among the top 50. Sophomore Ben Baldwin added a 74th place finish (30:01.88) while sophomore Kurt Kramer was 76th overall (30:08.10).

Ferris State will host the annual Bulldog Invitational this Friday (Sept. 27) at 5:30 p.m. (EDT) on FSU’s Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Mich.

Sept. 10: Ferris' Steve Picucci Named GLIAC Runner of the Week

Senior Steve Picucci was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for his performance in claiming the Northwood Invitational championship last Friday (Sept. 6) in Midland, Mich. Picucci, who was one of 43 competitors in the race, led the Bulldogs to a first place team finish as he clocked 26:17.50 on the 8K course.

Sept. 6: FSU Men Claim Northwood Invitational Title

The Ferris State University men’s cross country team placed three runners among the top 10 en route to a first-place team finish at the Northwood Invitational on Friday (Sept. 6) in Midland, Mich.

Senior Steve Picucci claimed the individual 8K championship as he finished first overall (26:17.50) in the 43-competitor field. Junior Joe Every took fifth place (26:54.80) while sophomore Joe Swendrowski was 10th (27:42.50).

Senior Pat Wehrman placed 12th overall (27:58.50), sophomore Kurt Kramer was 26th (29:28.70) and sophomore Ben Baldwin finished 32nd at 30:17.40.

The Bulldogs will return to action Friday, Sept. 20, at the Pre-Great Lakes Region Invitational in Allendale, Mich. The race, which will be hosted by Grand Valley State, is slated to begin at 6 p.m. (EDT).

Sept. 2: FSU Men Open 2002 Campaign At Jeff Drenth Memorial

The Ferris State University men's cross country team had six athletes compete in the non-scoring Central Michigan Jeff Drenth Memorial held last Friday (Aug. 31) at University Park in Mount Pleasant, Mich.

Senior Steve Picucci led Ferris in the four mile race as he placed 16th overall (16:15) among 31 competitors. Junior Joe Every was 22nd overall at 16:29 in FSU's first outing of the 2002 campaign.

Four other FSU athletes also competed in the open meet. Sophomore Joe Swendrowski placed 26th (16:55), senior Pat Wehrman was 27th (17:01), sophomore Ben Baldwin finished 28th (18:32) and sophomore Kurt Kramer was 29th (18:44).

Ferris State will take part in the Northwood Invitational this Friday (Sept. 6) at 4 p.m. (EDT) in Midland, Mich.
