Bulldog Hockey Pride!

The campaign to remodel the Ewigleben Ice Arena varsity locker room

Ice Arena Remodeling Project

Ferris State University hockey is truly a force to be reckoned with in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. Since joining the league, the Bulldogs have qualified for the CCHA playoffs 16 of 18 years. Over the past seven years, Ferris has made the playoffs six times and the championship round twice. Ice Arena enhancements help FSU recruit more top-flight players to push to the next level a program already steeped in a winning tradition.

The exciting Ice Arena Remodeling Project visibly improves the facility for the public, fans and student-athletes. The centerpiece is a large, attractive lobby that affords Ice Arena and Sports & Convocation Complex patrons ample access to larger, more modern concession, pro shop, and restroom areas.

A spacious new home for Bulldog hockey – the 4,560 gross-square-foot locker room annex – is attached to the west side of the Ice Arena. The first class wing features a locker room with 30 individual lockers, a coaches’ office, a study lounge including computers, and rooms for sports medicine, equipment issue, film study and exercise bikes. The University is contributing $250,000 in matching funds toward the cost of nearly $700,000.

Project donors can also take satisfaction in knowing they are helping to offset the expense of turning the existing varsity hockey locker room into public locker areas for youth hockey, figure skating, recreation, and community use.

For construction to begin in spring of 1998 and be completed by April 1999, financial commitments to the Ice Arena Locker Room Remodeling Project must be received by April 1, 1998.
