FERRIS STATE'S DAN RIEDEL LANDS SPOT ON CCHA'S ALL-ROOKIE TEAM

Bulldog Frosh Rewarded For Productive Season

Ferris State University freshman center Dan Riedel (Rochester Hills) has been named to the 2005-06 Central Collegiate Hockey Association's (CCHA) All-Rookie Team in an announcement made Wednesday (March 8) by the CCHA office.

Riedel presently ranks third in team scoring this season with 29 points on 10 goals and 19 assists in 32 contests. All of those numbers are tops among the Bulldogs' freshmen skaters. Riedel has also five multi-point game performances to go along with six power-play goals and three game-winning markers.

Riedel totaled 14 assists in CCHA action this campaign and presently ranks 10th nationally among rookies in points per game with a 0.91 average. The 5-9, 177-pound forward presently ranks tied for 27th in CCHA overall scoring and placed in an eighth-way tie for 34th in league points with 20 total (6-14--20) in 24 outings.

Prior to his arrival at Ferris, Riedel was named the 2004-05 United States Hockey League's (USHL) CCM Forward of the Year while skating for the Lincoln (Neb.) Stars under coach Steve Johnson. This preseason, he was tabbed as the seventh-best forward on Inside College Hockey's top incoming freshmen rankings.

Ferris State will continue its quest for the 2006 Mason Cup as the CCHA Playoff Champions this weekend (March 10-12), taking on the Michigan Wolverines in quarterfinal-round play at UM's Yost Ice Arena in Ann Arbor, Mich. Game times for the best-of-three playoff series are all 7:35 p.m. (EST) with this Friday's (March 10) playoff opener being televised live on FSN Detroit.

Ferris, which presently has registered a 17-13-8 overall record this campaign, is ranked 19th nationally this week in the U.S. College Hockey Online/College Sports Television's (CSTV) poll.
