FSU'S NELSON RANKED FOURTH BEST INCOMING FRESHMAN GOALTENDER

Ferris State Also Boasts Nation's 15th-Best Incoming Freshmen Class

Freshman goaltender Taylor Nelson (Regina, Saskatchewan) of the 2008-09 Ferris State University men's ice hockey team has been rated fourth among the top 10 incoming collegiate goaltenders according to Inside College Hockey.com's (INCH) 2008 Rankings.

Inside College Hockey, which is celebrating its sixth anniversary during the 2008-09 season, compiled its 2008 Recruiting Rankings with extensive input from college and junior coaches, as well as professional scouts. Participants were asked to evaluate recruits based on their projected impact at the college level, not on their professional hockey prospects.

Nelson is listed fourth on the recruiting list behind Rensselaer's Allan York, Brad Eidsness of North Dakota, and Michigan State's Drew Palmisano.

He was chosen as the MVP of the 2007-08 Royal Bank Cup Championship game along with being a member of the 2007-08 Credential Cup Champions and the Anavet Cup Champions.

A season ago, sophomore goaltender Pat Nagle (Bloomfield) was chosen as the fourth-best incoming netminder by Inside College Hockey.com in its 2007 Rankings.

Ferris State, under 17th-year head coach Bob Daniels, also earned national acclaim by boasting the 15th-rated freshmen class in Inside College Hockey.com's Top 15 Freshman Classes.

The Bulldogs, who are presently 1-1-0 overall and 0-0-0 in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) to date this season, travel to Pittsburgh, Pa., this weekend (Oct. 17-18) for a two-game non-league series against Robert Morris. Ferris State then begins CCHA play the following weekend, Oct. 24-25, with a home-and-home series versus Western Michigan.
