Menke, Redmond, and Nagle Receive League Recognition

Three first-year members of the 2007-08 Ferris State University men's ice hockey team have been recognized for their efforts this season as Justin Menke (Shamrock, Saskatchewan), Zach Redmond (Traverse City), and Pat Nagle (Bloomfield) have all been named to the 2008 Central Collegiate Hockey Association's (CCHA) All-Rookie Team as announced by the league office Monday (March 10).
The three were among 10 individuals to land honorable mention accolades while seven others earned all-rookie team laurels.
Menke presently leads all Ferris State freshmen in scoring with a team fourth-best 20 points on seven goals and 13 assists in 36 contests. The 5-11, 178-pound center has four power-play goals, one short-handed tally, and one game-winning lamplighter this season to date. Menke, who netted a pair of multiple-point game performances this campaign, finished tied for 14th in CCHA scoring among rookies with six goals and nine assists for 15 points in 28 league encounters. He has recorded at least a point in 18 outings.
Redmond, a 6-1, 191-pound defenseman, ranks sixth in team scoring with 17 points as a result of five goals and 12 assists in 34 games. The Bulldogs' top scoring defenseman, Redmond has netted both a short-handed goal and a game-winning marker this season while generating a plus 14 efficiency rating. He placed in a seven-way tie for 14th place with Menke on the CCHA's rookie scoring leaders list with 15 points on four goals and 11 helpers in 27 league contests. Redmond has notched at least a point in 14 games this season, which includes two multi-point game efforts.
Nagle has posted an 8-7-0 mark with a 2.63 goals-against average (38 goals allowed) and a .900 save percentage in 16 appearances this season. The 6-2, 169-pound goaltender placed ninth among the CCHA's netminders in goals-against average (2.86) and 10th in save percentage (.896) in 12 league tilts. He turned in the second-best numbers for both goals-against average and save percentage of the rookie backstops in conference play. Nagle compiled at least 25 saves in a game on eight occasions this season, including three 30-plus save single-game performances. Nagle was tabbed fourth by Inside College Hockey.com among the top 10 incoming collegiate goaltenders in the 2007-08 preseason rankings.
With their selection, the Ferris State men's ice hockey program has 34 skaters in its history who have earned either CCHA all-rookie or rookie honorable mention plaudits.
Ferris State currently sports a 17-14-5 overall and placed fifth in the CCHA regular-season standings with a 12-12-4 league mark. The Bulldogs, who are presently ranked 18th in this week's Inside College Hockey.com poll, face the 12th-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish this weekend (March 14-16) in a best-of-three CCHA Playoff Quarterfinal-Round series at Notre Dame, Ind.
