Dan Ley Dan Ley
Wrestling Coach 1980-84

Ley, who turned the Bulldog wrestling program into a national powerhouse during his tenure from 1980-84, is the lone inductee to both compete as a college athlete and to then serve as a head coach at Ferris. As a student-athlete, he was captain of the Bulldog wrestling team from 1971-74 and a three-time qualifier for the NAIA National Championships. As a coach, his Bulldogs participated in the NCAA Division II National Championships during each of his four years at the helm, finishing 13th in 1983-84.

Ley was a two-time Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference "Coach-of-the-Year" and guided Ferris to three consecutive conference championships and two straight NCAA II Midwest Region titles. The Shepherd native coached eight All-America wrestlers during his four years while the Bulldogs registered a 49-12 dual match record in that span. He is presently a science teacher at Cheyenne East High School in the state of Wyoming and serves as the head wrestling, assistant football and assistant girl's soccer coach. Ley has coached more than 100 Wyoming All-State wrestlers and has five Top Four team finishes at the Wyoming State Tournament.
