FERRIS FINISHES 14TH AT INDIANA INVITATIONAL
The Ferris State women's golf team fired a final-round 318 score in Sunday's action (April 3) at the Indiana Invitational to place 14th of 19 participating teams.
Notre Dame captured top team honors with a first-place 620 score (+44) while Grand Valley State finished runner up at 629 (+53) on the par 72, 6,142 yard Indiana University Golf Course in Bloomington, Ind.
The Bulldogs, who shot a 336-stroke total in Saturday's (April 2) opening round, were led by freshman Becky Hoffman's 161 score (80-81--161, +17). Hoffman finished in a six-way tie for 27th place. Sophomore Heidi Aittama carded a 163 (83-80--163, +19) to finish in a tie for 37th place.
Sophomore Casey McKinnon posted a 163 (86-77--163, +19) to place tied for 37th while junior Elena Robles was one stroke behind at 164 (84-80--164, +20) and tied with three others for 47th place.
A pair of freshmen, Yasuyo Kiyota and Missy Ward finished tied for 57th and 83rd place, respectively. Kiyota registered a 167 score (86-81--167, +23) while Ward fired a 171 (90-81--171, +27).
Next action for Ferris is April 8-9 when the Bulldogs take part in the Illinois Illini Classic at Stone Creek Golf Course in Urbana, Ill.
