FSU PLACES SECOND AT GLIAC CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE SEASON
Robles' Second-Place Individual Effort Leads Ferris State

Ferris State registered a 621-stroke total in Friday's (April 29) 36-hole Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Golf Championships to garner second-place honors.

Junior Elena Robles shot a second-place 149 two-round total at the GLIAC Championships in Ashland, Ohio.

The Bulldogs, who turned in rounds of 307 and 314 for a 621 team score (+45), finished seven strokes behind three-time defending league champion Grand Valley State (614, +38) at the Country Club of Ashland in Ashland, Ohio. Northwood shot a 692 (+116) to place third and was followed by Findlay, which had a 711 score (+135) to take fourth in the six-team scoring tournament field.

Individually, junior Elena Robles garnered second-place honors with a five-over par 149 (75-74--149). Freshman Missy Ward carded a third-place 155 (75-80--155, +11) and sophomore Heidi Aittama had a 158-stroke total (79-79--158, +14) to place seventh.

Sophomore Casey McKinnon finished one place behind Aittama at 159 (78-81--159, +15). Freshman Becky Hoffman produced an 11th-place 166 score (84-82--166). Rounding out the scorign for Ferris was frosh Kaitlyn Hogan, who finished tied for 17th as a result of shooting a 176 (91-85--176, +32).

This season's second-place finish at the GLIAC Championships marks the third straight year in which Ferris State has garnered runner-up honors at the conference tourney. A season ago, the Bulldogs posted a 652 team score (320-332--652) at FSU's Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Mich.
