Ferris State's Aittama Is Tourney's Leading Finisher

Freshman Heidi Aittama earned the distinction of being the tourney's top individual performer with a season-best 148 two-round total to finish five strokes in front of her nearest competitor.
Ferris State finished in second place with a final 643 team score (+75) at the Ashland Invitational this weekend (April 24-25), which was held at the par 71, 5,810-yard Brookside Golf Course in Ashland, Ohio.

The Bulldogs posted a final-round score of 320 in Sunday's play after turning in a 323-stroke total in Saturday's opening round. Grand Valley State won the tournament with a 627 score (+59) while Mercyhurst carded a 680 (+112) to claim third place honors in the eight-team field.

FSU freshman Heidi Aittama was the tournament's top individual performer as a result of firing a first-place and personal season-best 148 score (74-74--148, +6). Sophomore Casey McKinnon shot a 155 (78-77--155, +13) to finish third. Placing 12th was junior Meredith Johnson, who tallied a 169 (87-82--169, +27) while senior Ellie Saladin's 171 score (84-87--171, +29) tied her for 13th-place.

Junior Rachael Peterson took 25th place following a 177 (90-87--177, +35). Freshman Kelly Wilkinson rounded out the FSU scoring with a 181 (89-92--181, +39) to tie for 29th place.
