FSU PLACES SEVENTH AT SOUTHERN ILLINOIS SALUKI INVITATIONAL
Freshman Elena Robles Top Bulldog Finisher
The Ferris State women's golf team, behind freshman Elena Robles' top 25 placing, finished seventh with a two-round 676 score at the Southern Illinois Saluki Invitational in Carbondale, Ill.
The Bulldogs, who were competing in their second spring tournament, posted an opening-round 332 score Sunday and then fired a final round of 344 on the par-72, 5,963-yard Stone Creek Golf Course Monday. Murray State claimed the team title with an overall 641 score while Arkansas State was second with a 650-stroke total and host Southern Illinois carded a 653 score to place third. The 14-team tourney field was comprised almost entirely of NCAA Division I teams.
Robles finished in a three-way tie for 23rd place among the individual golfers with a 167 score (81-86--167, +23). Seniors Kathyrn Bobbie (80-88--168, +24) and Jenn Soltis (86-83--169, +25) both placed in three-way ties for 26th and 29th place, respectively.
Sophomore Meredith Johnson tied for the 40th spot in the standings as a result of shooting a two-round 172 total (85-87--142, +28). Senior Jen Dziabo rounded out the group with a 61st-place tying 180 score (90-90--180, +36) . Sophomore Rachael Peterson competed as a non-scoring individual in the event and captured 74th place with a 190 score (94-96--190, +46).
The Bulldogs are idle this weekend before returning to the links April 11 at the East Regional Preview in Findlay, Ohio.
