BULLDOGS FINISH TIED FOR FIFTH PLACE AT ILLINI CLASSIC

Kathryn Bobbie led the Bulldogs with her fifth top five performance of the 2002-03 season.
The Ferris State women's golf team concluded final round competition Saturday by shooting a 328 score to finish tied for fifth place at the University of Illinois Illini Classic in Urbana, Ill.

The Bulldogs, who shot an opening-round 330 score in Friday's play, tied with Indianapolis (319-339--658) for fifth-place honors as both teams were +82 over par on the 5,842-yard Stone Creek Golf Course. Host Illinois captured the team tournament title with a two-round 596 total score (295-301--596, +20) while Grand Valley State was second with a 631 score (308-323--631, +55).

Senior Kathryn Bobbie was the Bulldogs' top individual finisher for the third time in the last four tournaments, tying for fourth place with a 152 score (78-74--152, +8). Freshman Elena Robles carded a 155 (77-78--158, +11) to place 10th while sophomore Meredith Johnson turned in a 34th-place tying 175-stroke (88-87--175, +31) total.

Senior Jen Dziabo posted a 177 total (88-89--177, +33) to tie for 37th place. Senior Jenn Soltis garnered a first-round 87 score but was forced to withdraw in the final round.

Ferris State will now prepare for the GLIAC Championships next weekend (April 26-27), which will take place at the Riverside Golf Course in Erie, Pa.
