The Ferris University women's golf team landed five individuals on the 2002-03 All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Golf Team as announced by the conference office.

Senior Kathryn Bobbie (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario/Sir James Dunn) and freshman Elena Robles (Torrance, Calif./Redondo Union) were named to the All-GLIAC First Team while senior Jenn Soltis (Oshawa, Ontario/Eastdale) along with senior Jen Dziabo (Crown Point, Ind./Boone Grove) and sophomore Meredith Johnson (Fargo, N.D./North) achieved second-team recognition.

Kathryn Bobbie
Kathryn Bobbie was chosen the GLIAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Year for the second time in her career.

Along with those conference accolades, Bobbie received GLIAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Year honors and Robles earned GLIAC Freshman of the Year kudos. Fourth-year FSU head coach Brad Bedortha was voted the GLIAC Coach of the Year.

Bobbie, who attained all-conference first-team laurels for the third consecutive year, was the top individual medalist at the GLIAC Championship Tournament (4/26-27) for the third straight time with a first-place 148 two-round score. The program's only two-time All-American (2000-02), Bobbie has posted a team and personal career-best 78.3 stroke average in 12 tournaments this season. She was honored as the 2000-01 GLIAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Year and captured top placing at the 2002 conference championships (4/20-21) with a 156 total as the Bulldogs claimed their first-ever GLIAC title. With her 2003 GLIAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Year selection, a Ferris State golfer has claimed the noteworthy honor all three years since its inception.

Robles, Ferris State's first GLIAC Freshman of the Year selection, notched an 80.5 stroke average in 28 total rounds this season. She finished second behind Bobbie at the conference tournament as a result of firing a two-round 149 score. Robles, who picked up her first collegiate top medalist honor at the Findlay William "Bing" Beall Classic, placed 10 times among the top 20 in FSU's 12 tournaments.

Elena Robles
Elena Robles was tabbed the GLIAC's Freshman of the Year.

A two-time (2000-02) All-GLIAC First-Team pick, Soltis finished third on the team with an 83.7 average in 27 total rounds. She was named the GLIAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Year for the 2001-02 season. Following a season's absence, Dziabo secured a spot on the all-conference second team as she originally was named to the 2000-01 all-league second-team squad. This campaign, Dziabo averaged a career-best 86.5 and competed in all 12 of FSU's tournaments, highlighted by a seventh-place tie showing (162 score) at the GLIAC Championships. Johnson is a repeat second-team All-GLIAC selection and averaged a career-high 86.6 strokes in 28 total rounds this season. She tied Kathryn Bobbie for first-place honors at the season-opening Ferris State Bulldog Invitational (8/31-9/1) with a 152 two-round total.

Bedortha was honored as the GLIAC's Coach of the Year for the second time in his Bulldog coaching career. This season, he guided Ferris State to eight top-five tournament placings along with a pair of first-place showings at the Ferris State Bulldog Invitational and the Grand Valley State Laker Invitational (9/2-3). Bedortha received the conference award for the 2000-01 season as a result of directing the Bulldogs to 10 top five-place finishes, including three first-place team performances that campaign. He was also chosen the co-award recipient of the 2001 NCAA Division II East Region Women's Golf Coach of the Year.
