BAUMGARTNER AND RODES LEAD FERRIS TO SIENA HEIGHTS INVITE TITLE

Freshmen Blaize Baumgartner (Perry) and Brooke Rodes (Traverse City/West) claimed the top two individual placings at Saturday's (Oct. 4) Siena Heights Invitational in leading the nationally-ranked Ferris State women's golf team to a first place with an 18-hole 358-stroke total on the par 72, 5,805-yard Tecumseh (Mich.) Country Club.
The Bulldogs wrapped up the tourney 70 strokes over par while Kalamazoo (372, +84) and Madonna (372, +84) both tied for second place. Host Siena Heights (413, +125) took fourth place and Calvin (422, +134) was fifth. Rochester had to withdraw from the six-team tournament field.
Baumgartner turned in her highest placing this fall campaign by registering a 12-over par 84 score to earn individual medalist recognition. Rodes finished one stroke in back of Baumgartner with an 85 score. Freshman Breezy Bernth (Greenville) notched a 92-stroke total (+20) to earn sole possession of sixth place.
Freshman Amanda Bruski (Naperville, Ill./North) turned in a 97 score (+25) to gain a share of 15th-place honors.
