FSU WOMEN'S GOLF FINISHES SIXTH IN SPRING-OPENING TOURNAMENT

The nationally ninth-ranked Ferris State women's golf team shot a final-round 320 score in Tuesday's (March 10) action to finish in sixth place with a three-round 949 team score at the 34th annual Rollins College' Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational in Winter Springs, Fla.
The Bulldogs, who were making their spring season debut, started out the two-day tournament by firing opening-round scores of 319 and 310, respectively in Monday's (March 9) action on the par 72, 6,089-yard Tuscawilla Country Club course.
Ferris State's 949 team score (+85) was 51 strokes in back of tourney champion Nova Southeastern (Fla.), which produced a three-round 898-stroke total (+34).
Two FSU seniors, Alison Meyer (Duluth, Minn./Central) and Raquel Hansen (West Olive/Grand Haven), were the top individual performers for the Bulldogs. Meyer produced a 231 score (79-71-81=231, +15) to gain a share of 17th-place honors while Hansen was among five golfers to tie for 37th place as a result of firing a 240 (80-81-79=240, +24).
Freshman Bryce Hetchler (Clinton Township/Fraser) was Ferris' third lowest scorer in the tournament, finishing one stroke behind Hansen with a score of 241 (81-79-81=241, +25).
Frosh Blaize Baumgartner (Perry) claimed a share of 51st place by recording a 247 score (79-88-80=247, +31). Senior Meghan Hunter (Dexter) rounded out the FSU team competitors as she finished in a three-way tie for 56th place with a 250-stroke total (91-79-80=250, +34).
