Ferris State Stays At Eighth Place In Third 2009 Spring Season Poll

The Ferris State University women's golf team remains eighth place in the third 2009 spring season installment of the Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Women's Golf Coaches' Poll. The poll was released Wednesday (April 8) and will appear in the April 13 issue of Golf World.Raquel Hansen

The Bulldogs received 141 points in the national poll and trail Tarleton State (Texas) by 16 points for seventh place. Nova Southeastern (Fla.) remained atop the poll with a first-place 199 points total and garnered seven first-place votes. Florida Southern is listed second with 191 points and one first-place vote. Rollins (Fla.) has accumulated a third-place 186 points while Lynn (Fla.) and Grand Valley State are fourth and fifth place, respectively. Lynn compiled 171 points and Grand Valley State, which competes in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) as does Ferris State, earned 160 points.

Ferris State, which is coached by second-year head coach Mike Mignano, was eighth in the previous poll (March 25). The Bulldogs were ranked ninth with 176 points in the initial 2009 spring season Golf World/NGCA Women's Golf Coaches' Poll (March 4).

The poll is a result of the combined resources of Golf World magazine and the NGCA. The poll can be viewed online at www.golfworld.com.

Ferris State, which is coming off a third-place showing at the Northern Kentucky Invitational (March 28-29), will be participating in the Northwood Invitational this weekend (April 10-11) at Midland, Mich.
