Senior Becky Hoffman, a four-time all-league first-team pick, has been selected as the 2007-08 GLIAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Year.

Ferris State University senior Becky Hoffman (Gaines/Swartz Creek) has been named the 2007-08 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's (GLIAC) Women's Golf Athlete of the Year as announced by the conference office Tuesday (April 29).

Hoffman, who was the 2004-05 GLIAC Women's Golf Freshman of the Year, also received first-team all-conference honors for the fourth consecutive season. Grand Valley State's Kristina Langton was selected the GLIAC's Freshman of the Year while her coach Lori Stinson was honored as the Coach of the Year.

Hoffman leads the Bulldogs with a 77.40 stroke average (1,935 total strokes) in 25 rounds this season. She has posted a team-leading nine top-20 place finishes in tournament competition this campaign, including eight among the top 10 individual performers. Hoffman has either led or shared top team honors in posting Ferris State's low score in six of the Bulldogs' 11 tournaments. She has twice (April 1 and 23) been chosen as the GLIAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Week this season.

A two-time (2004-05 and 2006-07) National Golf Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Honorable Mention selection, Hoffman led nationally sixth-ranked Ferris State to a runner-up finish at the 2008 GLIAC Women's Golf Championships (April 20-21) in Arlington, Ohio. Hoffman was the conference tourney's top individual medalist as she tied for first place in the three-round regulation play with a 226-stroke total and then registered a birdie on the first playoff hole.

For her career, Hoffman is currently averaging 78.24 strokes per round (8,685 total strokes) in 111 rounds. She has amassed 59 top-20 results with 19 of being in the top five.

The selection of Hoffman represents the fifth time in which a Ferris State women's golf team member has garnered GLIAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Year laurels. Hoffman now joins Kathryn Bobbie (2000-01 and 2002-03), Jenn Soltis (2001-02), and Elena Robles (2005-06) on the exclusive list.

Ferris State will be making its seventh NCAA Division II Regional appearance next week (May 5-7) as the Bulldogs compete in the East Regional at The Meadows Golf Course Allendale, Mich.
