Senior Casey McKinnon and the Bulldogs are ranked fourth in Golf World's first-ever Division II College Coaches Poll.

The Ferris State University women's golf team is ranked fourth in the inaugural Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Coaches' Poll, which was released Wednesday (March 7).

The top 25 national poll combines the resources of Golf World magazine and the NGCA.

The Bulldogs, under eighth-year head coach Brad Bedortha, totaled 186 points to claim fourth place. Florida Southern earned top honors with 225 points and received all nine first-place votes. Lynn (Fla.) claimed second place with a 205 points total while Rollins (Fla.), the defending four-time (2003-06) NCAA-II National Championships recorded 198 points to place third. Grand Valley State took fifth as a result of compiling 168 points.

Besides Ferris State and Grand Valley State, the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) was represented by Northwood. The Timberwolves, who picked up 12 points in the poll, were listed among 15 other teams receiving votes.

The poll is based on the selections of nine women's coaches from across the country and can be viewed online at www.golfworld.com/womenspoll.

The Bulldogs, who were the 2006 NCAA-II National Championship Runner-Up, haven't finished lower than second place in their six tournaments to date for the 2006-07 season. FSU won a pair of 2006 fall tournaments -- the Ferris State Invitational (Sept. 2-3) and the Northwood Invitational (Sept. 29-30).

Ferris State will open the spring portion of its slate March 12-13 at the Lenoir-Rhyne Lady Bear Intercollegiate Tournament in Denver, N.C.
