The nationally-ranked Ferris State University women's golf team will be setting its sights on a championship title in NCAA Division II Women's Golf as the Bulldogs prepare for the 2007 NCAA-II Women's Golf Championships this week (May 9-12) at the par 72, 5,984-yard Stonebrook Golf Club in Pace, Fla. The University of West Florida is hosting the championships.

The Bulldogs, who are coached by Brad Bedortha, will be paired with Florida Southern and Tarleton State for tee times on Wednesday. Ferris will tee off from the first tee, starting at 9:50 a.m. (EDT), and from the first tee on Thursday (May 10), beginning at 8:50 a.m. (EDT).

The national championship tournament consists of four rounds, 72 holes, and 18 holes per round with team and individual competition conducted concurrently. All participants will compete throughout the entire 72 holes of competition. In the team competition, the low four scores for each team will count in each day's total score. The number of participants allowed is 48 along with eight teams. The top two teams from each regional tournament along with the top two individual golfers from the non-qualifying teams will be competing.

Ferris State will be making its fourth consecutive NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship appearance and the seventh in the program's history after winning the 2007 NCAA-II East Regional (April 30-May 2) at FSU's Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Mich. The Bulldogs fired a first-place 902 score (298-296-308=902, +38) in the three-round event.

The Bulldogs hope to better their second-place finish at the 2006 NCAA-II Women's Golf Championships (May 10-13), which was held at The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Mich. Ferris garnered runner-up honors with a three-round 925-stroke total as Rollins (Fla.) captured its fourth straight NCAA-II Women's Golf Championship title. Ferris State's second-place showing also marked the highest finish ever in the history of Bulldog women's athletics.

In the 2004 NCAA-II Championships (May 12-15) at Longwood, Fla., FSU tied for second place as a result of carding a 1,264 team score in the 72-hole tourney.

Ferris State has made national tournament appearances in 1992, 1994, 2001, 2004, 2005, and 2006. The Bulldogs have never finished lower than fifth place.

The teams competing in the 2007 NCAA-II Championships along with Ferris State are Florida Southern, Rollins, Drury, Tarleton State, Northeastern State, North Dakota, and Truman State.
